KUALA LUMPUR: Pas is positive there will be no clashes between Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming Melaka state election this November.

Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said discussions between the two coalitions are currently on-going to ensure the country and people are prioritised.

"There will be no clashes, especially now. God willing, there won't be any conflict. We often hold discussions. We are in the same government: the federal government.

"We discuss things together all the time to find the best solution for the country and the people," Takiyuddin told reporters after launching the Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) Reskilling Malaysia Council and TNB Protégé event at the Abu Zarim Auditorium, Integrated Learning Solution Sdn Bhd (ILSAS) in Bangi near here, today.

He said this in response to uncertainty over a possible cooperation between the two political coalitions in the Melaka state election to avoid multiple cornered fights.

Earlier today, PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced in Melaka that the coalition is ready for three-cornered fights if BN remains mum on collaboration for the upcoming state election.

Takiyuddin, who is energy and natural resources minister, also said that Pas has yet to decide on any possibility of contesting during the Melaka state election.

Recently, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said any cooperation involving BN and Umno with other political parties will be announced latest by next month.

On Tuesday, the Election Commission announced that Nov 20 has been fixed as the polling day for the Melaka state election. The EC also announced that nomination day will fall on Nov 8 and early voting will be held on Nov 16.
