IPOH: Several state executive councillors (exco) here have cleared their respective office desks pending instructions from Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu on the status of the current administration.

Among them are state Communication, Multimedia, NGOs and Cooperative Development executive committee chairman Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim; and state DAP vice-chairman who is also state Education, Technology, Science and Environmental committee chairman, Dr Abdul Aziz Bari.

Hasnul, who is also Parti Amanah Negara Youth chief, said he was preparing for “further instructions” that could involve a change in the state government.

"I need to prepare myself. We, the exco line-up, have yet to receive any instruction from the Menteri Besar, but we are preparing ourselves.

"This is politics. I must accept the fact and life (as a politician) can change within 24 hours," said Hasnul, as his eyes welled up with tears.

He was met by reporters at his office in Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here, today.

Hasnul had also livestreamed himself on his Facebook account clearing up his desk and taking down a wall-mounted picture of himself taking his oath of office before the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, on May 19, 2018.

Later, at a joint press conference with other excos, Hasnul said that the state government is functioning as usual until an official statement is released by the Menteri Besar.

"I have yet to receive any information. I also met state Secretary (Datuk Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim) and state Financial Officer (Datuk Abu Bakar Said) this morning and they told me the same thing. Business is usual for now," he said.

Also present at the press conference were state Tourism, Arts and Culture committee chairman Tan Kar Hing; state Investment and Corridor Development committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin; and state Social Welfare, Women Development, Family and Welfare committee chairman Wong May Ing.

Others in attendance were state Youth, Sports and Human Capital Development committee chairman Howard Lee Chuan How; and state Health, Consumer Affairs, National Integration and Human Resources committee chairman A. Sivanesan.
