KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs alleged to have attended a meeting with PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali have kept mum over what transpired.

Those who allegedly attended the meeting at Azmin’s official residence in Putrajaya on Monday night include Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim (Arau); Mohd Shahar Abdullah (Paya Besar); Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said (Pengerang); Datuk Noraini Ahmad (Parit Sulong); Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Mohamed Said (Kuala Kurau); Datuk Seri Ahmad Hamzah (Jasin); Datuk Hasbullah Osman (Gerik); Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (Kinabatangan); Datuk Jamaluddin Alias (Jelebu); Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid (Kuala Kangsar) and Ramli Mohd Nor (Cameron Highlands).

When met at the Parliament lobby, Noraini denied attending the meeting.

Asked if she had received an invitation for the meeting, Noraini replied: “No, I didn’t get any invitation and I did not attend the meeting.”

Bung Moktar said he too did not attend the meeting.

“I did not attend the meeting, so I do not know what was discussed last night.”

Mastura declined to comment.

Meanwhile, Ramli said the meeting was held to discuss funding for their respective constituencies.

Asked whether any political issues were discussed, he replied: “That was a perception.”

The motive behind the meeting and the number of lawmakers involved remains vague at press time.

Meanwhile, former Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the party’s disciplinary board should investigate the matter.

On whether the meeting would betray the Muafakat Nasional, Najib said: “Certain reasons were given for the meeting.

“(But), if there is a meeting, it should be held in office and not at home.

“If the meeting is being held at home and at night, it would give rise to interpretations.

“(And) if we want to discuss about project or anything else, the chief whip must be informed,” he said.

PKR member Datuk Kamaruddin Jaafar, who was at the meeting along with the party’s vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin, said nothing important was discussed at the meeting.

“We just talked about the country’s future development and political stability.

“We were also given a briefing on thecountry’s Shared Prosperity Vision,” he said.
