AYER KEROH: PKR information chief Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin believes that the appointment of new faces to the party’s central leadership council for the 2018-2021 term, is a clear signal that PKR is now helmed by a solid leadership.

He said the new appointments by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was handled within the party’s inside channels shortly after the party elections concluded in November.

“This (central leadership) had given a clear signal on the importance given to the partnership between the president and the deputy.

“It has also received the confidence of both leaders and members,” he said.

Shamsul Iskandar was commenting on a press statement by PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who on Saturday had labeling the appointments as not reflecting the principles of fair and just representation towards the members’ aspirations.

Azmin had called on Anwar to review the appointments, adding that they will in no way help the party progress.

Anwar had on Friday announced the appointments of new faces to the party’s central leadership council for the 2018-2021 term. These included retaining Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail as PKR secretary-general, and appointing former Pandan member of parliament Rafizi Ramli as a party vice-president.

Meanwhile, Shamsul Iskandar said he is confident that the issue can be resolved by Anwar and Azmin.

“The fact that this (came up through social media) is nothing new. To me, it has not weakened the party as it zeroes in on a specific issue. It’s not a big problem,” he said.
