IPOH: Perak Pakatan Harapan (PH) deputy chairman, Nga Kor Ming today affirmed that there is indeed a conspiracy to topple Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and his government.

He cited a confession on the matter by Perak Amanah chairman, Asmuni Awi and former Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, yesterday.

“Based on the two confessions… I can confirm that there is a plan to topple the state government (which is an offence) under Section 124 (B) and Section 124 (C) of the Penal Code for involvement in activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.

“At his press conference yesterday, Zambry said ‘It’s real’ when asked by reporters on the alleged conspiracy; while Asmuni released a statement saying that he was offered the Menteri Besar post, but would have to leave PH and join Umno (to accept it),” he said.

Nga, who is also Perak DAP chairman, revealed this in a press conference at the state legislative assembly at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here, today.

Umno liaison chairman, Datuk Saarani Mohamed was recently quoted as saying that state executive councillors in the PH government were approached to help oust Ahmad Faizal.

According to reports, at least five PH assemblymen were approached to assist in the exco members’ plan to pass a vote of no confidence against Ahmad Faizal.

Nga said a police report will be lodged by Perak PH secretariat chief, V. Sivakumar soon against Zambry, Saarani and those who are found to be involved in the conspiracy.

“The police report is crucial (to allow a) thorough investigation (on the matter). It is also to ensure that those who are involved in this plan (to topple the government) will be brought to justice, as this current government was chosen by the rakyat.

“We do not want anyone trying to create chaos in the state. What is (most important) now is to focus on the people and their wellbeing,” said Nga, who also urged the opposition to be more constructive.

It was reported yesterday that Asmuni claimed that he was offered the Menteri Besar post by Umno earlier this month. In a statement issued through his Facebook page, he said that he was approached on Nov 1 by an Umno man who invited him to leave PH.

Asmuni did not name the man.
