PETALING JAYA: Issues involving women and socio-economy continue to be the favourite for Pas's Seri Setia by-election candidate Dr Halimah Ali.
This as the campaign period for the by-election enters its final week.
According to Dr Halimah, women is a priority in her campaign as they make up 52 percent of the voters in the state constituency.
Apart from that, she said the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government did voice out their intention to empower women and here was PAS offering a woman candidate to realise the vision.
"The problems of price hike, Sales and Services Tax (SST), pressures of life and others affect women as they are responsible in managing their families.
"The situation faced by the rakyat today is not as rosy as promised by PH before the last general election.
"So I hope all the women voters and the young adults will rise together in giving a new political landscape come Sept 8 to ensure we become an opposition with a strong voice in Selangor," she said when met by reporters on the sidelines of a wedding reception in PJS8, here, today.
Also present was Rantau Panjang MP Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff.
Commenting further on the focus of her campaign before the by-election takes place on Sept 8, Dr Halimah said the implementation of the SST which kicked off yesterday was among the issues that attracted voters.
She said based on records, the SST was also among the most searched topics on the internet by Malaysians.
"Surely issues involving the SST will be given attention to in order to ensure we garner more votes with the campaign set to end in less than a week," she said.
