KANGAR: Umno presidential candidate Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah says Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng is ‘playing with fire’ by issuing an official government statement in Mandarin.
Tengku Razaleigh, who is Gua Musang Member of Parliament, labeled it a “stupid act” which could create chaos within the community.
“We cannot agree (with this).. the national language is Bahasa Melayu.
“This isn’t a part of China, this is enshrined in our Constitution. There is no give and take in this matter.
“Why is he playing with fire? He should not continue with this stupid act as it could lead to trouble,” he said.
Tengku Razaleigh was speaking at a meeting with state Umno members at a hotel here.
Speaking on his tour of the Umno divisions, he said the grassroots have conveyed to him their desire for change.
“This desire for change was triggered by the massive defeat sustained in the last general election.
“They want the Malay support to return to Umno; I am confident that we can do this. If we can do it then, we can do it now,” he said.
