KANGAR: The nine Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen and Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man should meet to discuss and find solution to the crisis.

Even if the group claims the crisis would be resolved soon, it had yet to declare its support for Azlan to lead the state.

Merdeka Centre Programme director Ibrahim Suffian said there were two ways to solve the crisis quickly.

“The first is for the nine assemblymen or majority of them to accept Azlan as Perlis Menteri Besar as consented by Raja Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail.

“Or Azlan should relinquish his position if the elected representatives still do not want to accept him as Menteri Besar,” he said when contacted today.

He said if the meeting between both sides failed to find a solution, Azlan might be kicked out through a vote of no confidence during the State Legislative Assembly sitting.

He said waiting for the state assembly would be a waste of time because many state matters could be dealt with during the period.

Commenting on whether a state election would be the best solution to solve the issue, Ibrahim said: “Everyone is trying to avoid a state election. It is clear they will be rejected by the people.

“The support for Pakatan Harapan (PH) is huge. I believe that certain quarters will not take the risk of a state election,” he added.
