BAGAN DATUK: Police are in a state of full preparedness to face polling day for the 14th general election (GE14), Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said today.

“I can assure (the public) that police forces are 100 per cent prepared.

“We have also come up with effective strategies in facing this ‘Mother of all elections’ (which will take place) in less than 10 days.

"Police forces are prepared in all aspects, including physical, emotional and spiritual, to face any eventuality during GE14," he added.

Fuzi said this in his speech at the launch of 1Amanweek 2018: Combat Crimes and War against Drugs at Dataran Bagan Datuk here today.

Also present was Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The IGP also reminded the police to carry out their duties professionally to avoid tarnishing the force’s credibility, as well as the image of the government.

"We are also held (accountable) to our Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, (to ensure) that the GE14 will be the safest election in the country's democratic history," he added.

Fuzi gave his assurance that voters can go out and cast their votes without fear, because the police would always ensure their safety.

"Do not get easily influenced by rumours or fake news that could spark doubts.

“(Voters) should also obey the rules and laws that were set during polling day; and respect each other to avoid provocations that could jeopardise the public order," he added.
