JOHOR BARU: DAP is being very tight-lipped about whether party adviser Lim Kit Siang will be defending his Iskandar Puteri (formerly known as Gelang Patah) parliamentary seat.

Recently, during a walkabout, the 77-year-old opposition veteran refused to confirm whether he would be standing for election in the constituency

It is learnt that DAP will announce its candidate for Iskandar Puteri at an election fundraising dinner tomorrow.

Kit Siang’s son, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, is expected to be at the event.

With just a week to go before nomination day on April 28, DAP heavyweights such as party vice-chairman Teresa Kok and Wanita chief Chong Eng have been coming south to show their support for the state DAP.

Incumbent Mengkibol assemblyman Tan Hong Pin, who has been nominated for the Skudai seat, said there were only a handful of new faces in the party’s line-up for the 14th General Election, including former Pas activist Sheikh Omar Ali (Paloh), former Bersih coordinator Chew Chong Sin (Mengkibol) and social activist Tee Boon Tsong (Senai).
