JOHOR BARU: The state Pakatan Harapan (PH) has defended its 20-pledge election manifesto.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin had earlier lambasted the state PH because some of the pledges in the manifesto initiatives seemed to be copied from existing initiatives and proposals spearheaded by the state government.

However, Johor Parti Amanah Negara deputy chairman Dzulkefly Ahmad said the similarities were due to the fact that the manifesto was about general developnent and issues related to state government affairs.

He also added that coalition members had agreed unanimously on the manifesto.

“We should understand that similarities are inevitable as the issues are recurring matters in the state administration,” he told a press conference in Taman Pelangi here today.

Dzulkefly said some of the state government initiatives were problematic and PH wanted to fix them.

“We worked around them to ensure that the people of Johor are not taken for a ride by the Barisan Nasional-led government and do not approve of everything done by BN without question.”

He added that while some of the pledges in the PH manifesto dealt with familiar issues such as water supply, housing and economic matters, new issues were also addressed.

“The proposal to impose a two-term limit for the post of menteri besar is new. It will be implemented not only inJohor but also in other states should we come to power,” he said.
