ALOR STAR: Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah would seek the consent of the Sultan of Kedah this Sunday to dissolve the state assembly, following the dissolution of the Parliament to make way for the 14th General Election (GE14) today.

The Kedah Menteri Besar said he would seek an audience with Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah to seek the Ruler's consent to dissolve the state assembly.

"After the Prime Minister announced the dissolution of the Parliament, it is my duty to seek the consent of the Sultan of Kedah to dissolve the state assembly.

"I will have an audience with the His Highness two days after the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced the dissolution of the parliament," he said after attending a Fun Walk and Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat event at Taman Saga in Alor Mengkudu here today.

Barisan Nasional (BN) formed the state government after winning 21 out of the 36 state seats in Kedah during the previous general election.
