KUALA LUMPUR: Residents of Taman Semenyih Ria, Sg Lalang in Semenyih, are up in arms over the presence of foreign meat vendors operating on the five-foot way of a local shoplot.

Expressing concerns over hygiene and food safety, they are calling for urgent action from the authorities.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), user fahaizalzee, under the handle @Vandeeta3, ignited the outcry, questioning the lack of regard for proper meat handling.

"Is this how you do it in Bangladesh? Simply cutting meat on the floor?"

"Whenever I make noise, they start throwing the @MPKajang's name, saying the council never make noise or take action against them. (Nonetheless) I do hope that @MPKajang will take action." he wrote.

Fahaizalzee's plea garnered support from netizens who tagged the relevant authorities, including the Immigration Department and the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry, in the hope of swift action.

Outraged voices echoed online, highlighting the perceived disparity in law enforcement.

"Imagine if the Malays (locals) were to do this, X (authorities) will arrive to take action in 0.056 second!" said user Riz.

Others complaint of sluggishness of law enforcement and stressed the need for relentless follow-up to ensure compliance.

Another X user, Aslam said: "Those who filed complaints must constantly follow-up with the authorities... How can they (foreigners) do this, turning the place into a wet market."

Demanding proactive measures, Mi urged the Kajang Municipal Council and Immigration Department to ramp up raids and checks in the area.

"If for parking you can conduct frequent checks, you should be able to do the same for this as well. Come on @MPKajang and @imigresenmy, please conduct more raid in Kajang."
