KUALA LUMPUR: A poignant video capturing the Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, presenting his mother with the prestigious National Hero Service Medal has been making waves on social media platforms.

The touching ceremony, which took place in his hometown near Kampung Parit Seberang in Kuala Pilah, Negri Sembilan showcased a heartfelt moment as Husain honoured the distinguished service of his late father, Corporal (retired) Husain @ Abdul Rashid Maarof and elder brother, Sergeant (retired) Abd Razak Husain.

The one-minute-and-eight-second video, viewed over 270,000 times on TikTok and extensively shared on WhatsApp groups, gained additional visibility when it was featured on the official police Facebook page as one of the stories of the day on December 20.

In the video, Razarudin was seen awarding the National Hero Service Medal (P.J.P.N.) to his mother, Rahmah Abd Rahman, as a tribute to his father's significant contributions during his service in the force, particularly in the fight against communist insurgents.

The simple yet meaningful ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Puan Sri Zainah Othman, chairman of the Malaysian Police Family Association (Perkep), Datuk Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad, Bukit Aman Management and Administration director and Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof, Negri Sembilan police chief.

The late Corporal Husain @ Abdul Rashid served in the force from October 1952 to March 1985, contributing to various contingents such as Kelantan and Selangor before his retirement.

He passed away on December 23, 2021, due to old age. Meanwhile, his elder brother, Sergeant Abd Razak, dedicated his service from March 1977 to January 2015, with his last posting at Bahau police station in Jempol, Negri Sembilan.

The video, posted on the official police page, attracted over 700 comments from netizens expressing their congratulations and admiration for the police family.

Comments praised the IGP for honouring the sacrifices of his late father and brother.

#igrazor #polisdirajamalaysia #pdrm #fyp ♬ Epic Music(804503) - Draganov89
