KUALA TERENGGANU: A 32-year-old mother expressed deep remorse for inadvertently leaving her children alone at a villa during a family trip.

Nurul Fazliana Saffian took to TikTok to share her guilt and seek forgiveness for the oversight involving her three-year-old daughter, Khayra Afeeya Mohd Raziki.

"Forgive us, dear younger sibling; our actions were unintentional," she wrote in her heartfelt apology.

The incident gained widespread attention as netizens viewed a TikTok video featuring footage from the dashboard camera, accumulating over 4.2 million views.

In the video, Nurul Fazliana's anxious voice reflects the moment she realised her child was not with them.

Recalling the incident, Nurul Fazliana, from Bukit Tunggal, explained that it occurred last Sunday during their check-out after a three-day, two-night stay at the village inn.

"The story unfolds as my family and I travelled to Kelantan for my father's medical treatment for his red wind ailment.

"We stayed at a village inn, and, to make a long story short, Khayra (the youngest child) was upset before we checked out.

"I saw Khayra hiding behind the curtain and asked my husband to calm her down, but perhaps he (husband) didn't notice until we all started to leave," she told Harian Metro.

Nurul Fazliana recalled that, while in the vehicle, both she and her husband, Mohd Raziki Nordin, 37, remained unaware of Khayra Afeera's absence until half an hour into their journey back.

"But perhaps it was Allah's plan to touch my heart; I noticed a horse by the roadside during the trip.

"At that moment, I called out to Khayra to see the horse, but Khayra didn't respond. Only after turning around did I realise she wasn't in her seat.

"Deeply worried, I immediately called my sister driving behind us, thinking Khayra was with her. Unfortunately, she wasn't.

"Without hesitation, my husband made a quick U-turn, driving back urgently to the village inn to retrieve Khayra, fearing she might be distressed alone," she explained.

Upon reaching the village inn, Nurul Fazliana swiftly retrieved the key from the mailbox and opened the door.

"As soon as the door swung open, I saw Khayra standing there, perhaps patiently waiting for us.

"I hugged her immediately, and while Khayra didn't cry, her clothes were covered in vomit. Perhaps she had just cried until she vomited, but the relief of seeing her in good health outweighed the initial guilt.

"To be honest, looking at Khayra's face, I felt incredibly guilty due to compassion, leading me to repeatedly apologise for the unintended oversight," she said.

Nurul Fazliana shared that various responses surfaced after she shared the incident on TikTok.

"Many offered words of encouragement, while others criticised. I acknowledge my fault in being careless and overlooking the situation.

"My primary intent in sharing the video is to serve as a reminder for other parents, urging them to learn from our experience.

She emphasised the video's purpose as a cautionary tale for parents to be vigilant, highlighting that unforeseen circumstances can occur despite a child's usual proximity.
