KUALA LUMPUR: A Road Transport Department (RTD) enforcement officer was injured when a motorcyclist rammed into him at a roadblock near Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan today.

A statement from the RTD said the 11am incident occured at the Port Dickson-bound lane at Km 28 of the Seremban-Port Dickson Highway.

The motorcyclist, who was on a Yamaha Y125ZR rammed into the officer who was on duty at the road block.

"Based on initial investigations by the Negri Sembilan RTD Enforcement Division, the motorcyclist has two active blacklists."

The offences under his record were under various sections of the Road Transport Act 1987.

RTD said these offences included one related to an expired driving licence on July 18, 2012 under Section 23(1) of the act; having no insurance under Section 90(1); having no Competent Driving License (CDL) under Section 26 (1) and seizure made under Section 64(1).

The statement said a police report was lodged over the incident and the motorcyclist was handed to the Port Dickson Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department to assist with the investigation under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act and Section 186 of the Penal Code for voluntarily obstructing a civil servant in the discharge of his public functions.

"The 2023 'Operasi Khas Motosikal' is ongoing from Sept 1 to 30 nationwide, with the objective of strengthening the culture of law compliance.

The operation also aims to foster a sense of guilt when committing violations of road safety regulations under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333).

"As such, we would like to advise the public not to run away or act unexpectedly when they are at RTD's road block."
