KUALA LUMPUR: In a heartwarming display of bravery, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) has earned widespread acclaim from netizens for rescuing an elderly woman who found herself perilously perched on the ledge of a residential flat.

The dramatic rescue operation unfolded at Block 210A Bukit Batok Street 21 in the republic last Saturday, capturing the attention of online audiences across the globe.

The incident was captured on video and shared on social media, quickly amassing over a million views and 74,800 likes.

The footage reveals the distressed elderly woman standing on the edge of the flat's ledge, prompting a prompt response from SCDF and Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) personnel.

A group of SCDF rescuers positioned themselves on the floor below, closely monitoring the situation, while several DART rescuers took their positions two floors above the elderly woman.

To ensure her safety, the SCDF team swiftly deployed a safety life air pack and strategically positioned safety nets to prevent any potential fall.

However, the tense situation took an alarming turn when the woman attempted to move to a section of the ledge that was not fully safeguarded by the nets.

With the combined efforts of the courageous rescuers, the elderly woman was safely guided back into the building, where other officers stationed inside provided additional assistance.

The heart-stopping footage and the heroism exhibited by the SCDF and DART personnel have resonated deeply with netizens, who have flooded social media platforms with praise for their swift and life-saving actions.

"Fast and swift. Every life is worth saving. Thank you guys. I hope the lady feels safe now after what she had gone through," user It's Me! said.

Another user, @kerstinong, commended the rescuers, stating: "Super smooth, fast and extremely well trained! Crazy respect for all of our SCDF officers and everyone serving our nation."

User Lamueire acknowledged the risks involved, remarking: "Even with safety harnesses, these people still risk themselves to do this job. Respect."
