KUALA LUMPUR: Mybrush Industries Sdn Bhd says it is fully committed to cooperating with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), which is looking for its chairman Datuk Lee Fook Yuen to assist in its investigations.
According to the statement, Lee has informed MyBrush Group that he is not evading or avoiding the investigation.
"Over the past month, he has been intensely focused on business expansion and development. Despite being engaged in other business activities, he has informed the MyBrush Group that he has decided to postpone the remainder of his business trips to return to Malaysia and coordinate with the investigation.
"As a multinational company that upholds ethical business practices, we were surprised by MACC's sudden request. We are uncertain of the specific cases referenced by MACC and believe this could be a misunderstanding or the result of miscommunication by a certain party.
"We seek the public's understanding that MACC's request is to assist with an investigation, the reasons and specific cases of which we have yet to be informed.
"As a multinational group, the MyBrush Group upholds ethical business practices and if required, are willing to cooperate with MACC.
"Our team has thoroughly discussed the situation internally to understand the potential reasons behind this incident. We are reserving our legal stance until further clarification is provided.
"Unfortunately, the statement covered by local media has significantly impacted our business. We regret this outcome and will fully cooperate with the investigation.
The company also assured that is business operations will continue as usual with no impact on its stakeholders.
On Friday, the MACC issued a statement that it was looking for a 60-year-old man with the title "Datuk" to assist in an investigation.
It said it believed that the man, identified as Lee Fook Yuen, whose last known address is No. 3, Jalan Setia Tropika 7/3, Taman Setia Tropika, 81200 Johor Baru, Johor, could provide information regarding the case.
