KUALA LUMPUR: The Bukit Nanas Water Treatment Plant (WTP) was forced to shut down following a change in the colour of treated water detected at 7.30pm on Friday (June 21).

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) reported that this shutdown has caused unscheduled disruptions in water supply to parts of the capital city.

At the same time, the company says it is investigating the cause of the incident.

Affected areas include Bukit Bintang, Bukit Ceylon, Chow Kit, Dang Wangi, Capsquare, Hampshire Park, Kuala Lumpur Hospital - Faculty of Health Sciences & Paediatric Institute, Jalan Imbi, Kampung Baru, and Kampung Datuk Keramat-Jalan Damai.

Also affected is Kuala Lumpur City Centre; encompassing Jalan Binjai, parts of Jalan Ampang, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan P Ramlee, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Conlay, Jalan Stonor, Jalan Eaton, Jalan Kia Peng, Lorong Ampang, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Pinang, Jalan Law Yew Swee and Lorong Perak and; Medan Tuanku.

In Pudu, affected areas include Jalan Pudu, Jalan Brunei, and Changkat Thambi Dollah, while in Titiwangsa Sentral, they include Jalan Lumut, Jalan Chemur, and Jalan Datuk Haji Eusoff.

Air Selangor said that alternative assistance through water tankers will be deployed to users, with priority given to critical premises.

"We are making every effort to minimise the impact of this disruption on affected users. Users can obtain information regarding this unscheduled water supply disruption periodically through the official communication channel at https://waterupdates.airselangor.com/ and alternative communication channels," it said.
