KOTA BARU: Barely a week after it was launched, the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry's hotline for Op Kesan 2.0 has received 358 inquiries.

The ministry's enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam said the hotline also received 10 complaints from the public.

Speaking to New Straits Times, Azman said the figure was recorded until June 14.

"The ministry's hotline number is 012-6654292 is very useful in helping the public since it was launched.

"Officers at the enforcement command centre had received 368 calls, comprising 358 inquiries and 10 complaints.

"The complaints were about the increase of food prices and transport costs," he added.

On June 7, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali when launching Op Kesan 2.0 said a federal task force will be set up to deal with complaints about traders who use the diesel subsidy rationalisation as an excuse to increase the prices of goods and services.

He said a hotline for complaints has also been established.

He added an enforcement command centre would operate daily from 9am to 10pm, and the hotline number is 012-6654292.

Armizan said Op Kesan 2.0 which took effect on June 8, was to curb profiteering by traders following the subsidy rationalisation.

He said the task force, comprising 15 ministry officers, would be based in Putrajaya.
