PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDN) said it views several statements from industry players indicating intentions to raise prices following the diesel subsidy rollback seriously.

"The Ministry is currently conducting Ops Kesan 2.0, which commenced on June 8 .

"Monitoring and enforcement of any complaints through provided platforms are carried out in accordance with the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Regulations 2011," said Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali in a statement.

At the same time, the ministry said it will conduct immediate investigations on the statements which have gone viral recently covering two aspects.

"For sectors not included in the 33 types of public transportation and goods under the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS), such as vehicle towing services and construction material delivery, the ministry will issue notices to the relevant parties," said Armizan.

Notice delivery will be executed under Section 21 of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act (AKHAP) 2011 to ensure that there is no adjustment of prices with profiteering elements.

Secondly, for industrial sectors such as construction that were not eligible for subsidised diesel before the subsidy targeting was implemented on June 10, the ministry will investigate the reasons for their current service price increases.

"This includes investigating the possibility of them obtaining subsidised diesel unlawfully before this," it said.
