KUALA LUMPUR: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) is still waiting for the results of the police investigation into a case of alleged paedophilia at Mara Junior College (MRSM) Tumpat, Kelantan, before taking any action.

Its chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said they wanted to wait for the full report from the police since the teacher had filed a report alleging that he was defamed.

"The police have conducted an investigation and informed us that there are no elements that could indicate misconduct.

"We are waiting for the full report from the police. Our next step will be based on the authorities' investigation," he said.

He added that the investigation into this case needed to be comprehensive and any action taken must be based on the evidence presented.

"We need to see this in context; the investigation must be thorough, and any action must be based on the evidence presented.

"At the Mara level, we will rely on the authorities' investigation," he said.

Previously, on March 30, the Kelantan police confirmed receiving a report from the teacher against a female student, who made a social media post accusing him of the act.

On April 29, the police confirmed that there was no case of paedophilia at the junior college, and investigations revealed that it was more likely a case of defamation against the teacher.
