KOTA BARU: A federal task force will be set up to deal with complaints about traders who use the diesel subsidy rationalisation as an excuse to increase the prices of goods and services.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said a hotline for complaints has also been established.
"An enforcement command centre will operate daily from 9am to 10pm, and the hotline number is 012-6654292," he told a press conference at the launch of Op Kesan 2.0 today.
The operation, which takes effect tomorrow, is to curb profiteering by traders following the subsidy rationalisation.
"Following the introduction of Op Kesan 1.0 in March this year, the ministry decided to continue with another operation, Op Kesan 2.0.
"This operation targets premises throughout the country that breach the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011," he said.
Also present were the ministry's enforcement director-general, Datuk Azman Adam, and state director Azman Ismail.
Armizan said the task force, comprising 15 ministry officers, would be based in Putrajaya.
"It will monitor complaints and coordinate with those in the states to solve the issues," he added.
