KUALA LUMPUR: The 10,160 students who failed to take their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination for 2023 can apply for training with GiatMara.
Mara chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the students can apply to any of the 232 GiatMara branches nationwide.
He said Mara's Technical and Vocational Education and Training programme offers skills training up to the highest levels.
"GiatMara has identified new fields which are needed in the market, including high-tech fields such as artificial intelligence, IoT (the Internet of Things), robotics, electric vehicle (EV), renewable energy vehicles (REV), and many more," he said in a social media post.
He added that Mara's TVET programme was carried out in close collaboration with industry movers so that the skilled workers it trains will be guaranteed job opportunities.
"GiatMara is currently carrying out a holistic study of all its programmes to ensure advancement and the ability to produce a skilled workforce according to international market and industry standards."
Asyraf said everyone has his or her own strengths.
"Those who may be less outstanding in academic pursuits focused on reading and written exams, can excel in skill-based fields such as TVET," he said.
On Monday, Education Department director-general Azman Adnan had revealed that 10,160 of the 383,685 SPM candidates for 2023 had failed to take their exxamination.
