KUALA LUMPUR: The results of the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election are expected to be announced at about 9pm tonight.

"Hopefully, (the results can be announced) after 9pm tonight.

"We are quite fast this time around.

"Hopefully we can announce the results after 9pm, before the football match starts at 10pm tonight," he told reporters after visiting the polling centre at SMK Kuala Kubu Bharu here today.

It was understood that Azmi was referring to the English Premier League football match at Malaysian time tonight.

Earlier, Azmi said the voter turnout for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election had reached 26 per cent as of 11am.

The battle for Kuala Kubu Baharu sees a four-cornered fight involving Pakatan Harapan's Pang Sock Tao, Khairul Azhari Saut (Perikatan Nasional), Hafizah Zainuddin (Parti Rakyat Malaysia) and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.
