KUCHING: The Sarawak government is dedicated to creating a comprehensive education ecosystem for the benefit of educators and students alike, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg highlighted the government's commitment by using state funds to upgrade dilapidated schools across Sarawak.

"The Sarawak government is allocating its own funds to develop and improve 100 dilapidated schools in the state.

"Subsequently, the Federal government will reimburse the expenses incurred. This streamlined process accelerates school upgrades by reducing bureaucratic hurdles," he said.

He made these remarks during the Inauguration Ceremony of the SiPartners+ Malaysia Professional Association (SIPMa) National Level Conference 2024 held here on Tuesday.

Abang Johari added that the state government has also established five international schools using its own resources.

"In addition to national schools, we aim to equip Sarawakian students with multilingual proficiency and exposure to the Cambridge syllabus.

"We aspire to provide opportunities to all capable students in both urban and rural areas so that they can pursue higher education at renowned universities specialising in emerging technologies.

"Sarawak requires skilled individuals in new technologies such as hydrogen production and algae-based biofuel production to drive innovation in the field," he said.
