KUALA KUBU BAHARU: Pakatan Harapan (PH) has denied claims of government misconduct made by the opposition in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election campaign.
Its candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, Pang Sock Tao, said all campaign movements run by the unity government have been in accordance with the laws and the constitution.
"I believe that so far we have been campaigning in accordance with the laws, (and) I am confident that our campaigns have been running well.
"The opposition can voice whatever that they want, but I am confident that we are following the laws throughout the campaign (period)," she said when met by reporters during a visit to Maktab Polis Diraja Malaysia for early voting, today.
Pang said this in response to Perikatan Nasional's (PN) statement yesterday that it will file an election petition if PH wins the upcoming Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election slated for May 11.
Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, who is also the opposition chief whip, claimed it has evidence of government misconduct which could allegedly sway voters in the polls.
Meanwhile, asked whether she was ready to face the petition if given the mandate to represent Kuala Kubu Baharu, Pang said the party would observe the situation from time to time.
So far, our focus is to ensure victory favours the unity government. As for what comes next, we'll see how it goes.
"However, I still want to stress here that the unity government campaign is legitimate and in accordance with the laws."
