KUALA LUMPUR: Police interrogated the younger sister of Teoh Beng Hock and another person for about an hour last night in relation to an illegal campaign held during the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election campaign.

Teoh Lee Lan, who is the late political aide's younger sister and vice-secretary of the Teoh Beng Hock Association for Democratic Advancement was summoned by police here along with Ng Yap Hwa, who is the chairman of the same association at about 11.30pm.

A statement from the association said the duo were questioned for about an hour before being were released.

"At around 11.30pm last night, Ng Yap Hwa, the chairman of the Teoh Beng Hock Association for Democratic Advancement, and Teoh Lee Lan, the vice-secretary and Teoh Beng Hock's sister, were called in for police investigation under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 4A of the Election Offences Act."

It said the investigating officer asked questions regarding whether the association received funding to promote campaigns for Beng Hock and asked why the group intended to breach the peace, and why the group sought to incite political parties.

"They were released after an hour of investigation at 12.30am. A press statement will be given to members of the media later," it said.

Beng Hock was found dead on July 16, 2009, on the fifth floor of the Plaza Masalam building in Shah Alam after testifying at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office on the 14th floor of the same building.
