MELAKA: Industry players involved in the Melaka Nightlife programme, held in conjunction with Visit Melaka Year 2024, are actively improving infrastructure and facilities at various tourist destinations to enhance visitors' comfort and safety.

State Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee deputy chairman Datuk Zaidi Attan said improvements include lighting and power supply around the location, such as Menara Taming Sari, Melaka River Cruise, Melaka Zoo and all museums under the Melaka Museum Corporation.

He said the Melaka Nightlife programme would be held every first day of the month from 11pm to 3am, starting June 1.

"We have informed all relevant agencies to ensure that the lighting at the entrances is sufficient and the air conditioning functions properly. This is crucial to ensure visitors' safety as these tourist destinations will operate until 3 am," he told reporters after officiating the Menara Taming Sari Aidilfitri Open House and 16th Anniversary celebration, with Menara Taming Sari Berhad (MTSB) chief executive officer Nasrul Ahmad also present.

In another development, Zaidi announced the reopening of Panggung Bangsawan Melaka to the public on May 7, featuring the performance depicting the legendary tale of Panglima Hang Tuah.

"The performance will be delivered in classical Malay language, with reference to history books over 400 years old, to provide exposure and increase the interest for the language and theatre performances among the younger generation," he said.
