JOHOR BARU: A five-year-old autistic boy is feared drown in Sungai Skudai in Kampung Sepakat, here, today.

A search and rescue operation to locate the victim is ongoing at press time.

Skudai assemblyman Marina Ibrahim said she arrived at Kampung Sepakat at 6.30pm, after the village head informed her of the incident.

"Residents here had organized a raya open day earlier in the day, when they noticed the boy missing about 1.30pm, and immediately started looking for him.

"However, about 4.40pm, the boy's relative noticed skid marks near the river banks, and dived in...but found a mobile phone which he was playing with in the river," she said when contacted.

The Fire and Rescue Department were alerted at 4.30pm. At press time the SAR operations are still ongoing.
