KUALA LUMPUR: Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, today visited the family of Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Amirulfaris Mohamad Marzukhi, who died in the Lumut helicopter crash on Tuesday.

In a posting on the Facebook page of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, a sombre atmosphere enveloped the deceased's home as Her Majesty met Amirulfaris' widow, Siti Aisyah Mohd Roslan, and their two sons, aged 7 and 2, in Taman Senawang Perdana, Negri Sembilan, today.

"Her Majesty took the time to inquire about the welfare of the widow, parents and two siblings of the late officer before extending a personal contribution to Siti Aisyah.

"Accompanying Her Majesty were the prime minister's wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail; Datin Seri Rosni Omar, the wife of the defence minister; and Hajah Dalilah Awaludin, the wife of the deputy defence minister," the posting said.

Amirulfaris was buried at the Senawang Muslim Cemetery, Negri Sembilan, on Thursday.

In the incident, two navy helicopters with 10 people on board crashed after colliding mid-air at the Lumut navy base during a rehearsal for the navy's 90th anniversary celebrations.
