LARUT: The remains of Warrant Officer Noorfarahimi Mohd Saedy, were laid to rest at 9pm today.

Her remains arrived at the Kampung Damak Islamic Cemetery, Sungai Bayor here, at 7.50pm for prayers before the burial ceremony which was carried out according to the tradition of the  Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN).

It is estimated that more than 1,000 residents, including colleagues of the deceased had arrived at  the cemetery since 6.30pm.

A sad atmosphere enveloped the cemetery when the children and husband of the victim, Muhd Faizul Kameh, 42, as well as the relatives could not hold back their tears.

Also paying their last respects were Selama district police chief, Superintendent Sarudin Samah and Selama state assemblyman Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin.

In the incident, two armed forces helicopters crashed following a mid-air collision in Lumut, Perak.

All 10 crew members perished in the crash.

The helicopter, an Agusta Westland AW139 Maritime Operations Helicopter (HOM) and a Eurocopter Fennec, had collided during a mid-air manoeuvre during a flypast training for the RMN's 90th-anniversary celebrations.

Following the mid-air collision, the AW139 HOM helicopter crashed at the steps of the Navy Stadium while the Fennec crashed near the pool of the Navy Sports Complex.
