LUMUT: There was tight security at the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) base here following the midair crash involving two Royal Malaysian Navy helicopters today.

Media personnel were instructed to gather at Lumut town at 3.30pm before boarding a Navy bus to be escorted into the base here.

"We were brought in through Harimau 3 gateway before heading towards stadium TLDM Lumut.

"Security was tight. We were not allowed to move freely near the location of the site," said one reporter.

"We then visited the location where M503-3 HOM crashed outside the stadium," he added.

The group was shepherded to a gathering point and asked to wait for the arrival of Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who held a press conference here.

When the group asked for permission to take photos, they were allowed to take footage approximately 100 metres from the crash site. One photographer said 'movement was limited'.
