KUALA LUMPUR: The body of former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tun Mohammed Hanif Omar, who passed away this morning, has been brought to the Makam Pahlawan (the National Heroes Mausoleum), for prayers.

This was confirmed by IGP Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

Among the former and current Bukit Aman top leadership who are already at Masjid Negara right now include former IGP Tan Sri Musa Hassan, Tan Sri Ismail Omar and former deputy IGP Tan Sri Mazlan Mansor.

Also at the mosque were Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf and Special Branch Counter-Terrorism (E8) Assistant Director Senior Assistant Commissioner Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal.

Hanif was the country's longest-serving IGP, holding the position from 1974 to 1994.

His son, Abdul Rahmat Omar Mohamed Hanif, confirmed the news of his passing.
