MATU: The completion of the new road project behind Kampung Bawang is set to significantly improve local residents' comfort, with Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, confirming that it will be completed soon alongside the ongoing project behind Kampung Tian, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

However, challenges such as frequent flooding from nearby forests and river overflows have delayed the project.

To address these issues, the government has initiated a river cleaning project from Sekaan Kecil to Kampung Bawang, funded by an RM800,000 allocation approved by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The project's completion is crucial as it paves the way for future development projects once the road is finished.

Juanda discussed these details at the Kampung Bawang Matu community gathering on Wednesday, where he also distributed festive financial gifts, highlighting the community's solidarity and cooperative spirit in hosting the event.
