TANJUNG MANIS: The state government has sanctioned a funding package totalling RM35 million to develop Tanjung Manis, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

The Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation is set to receive RM20 million to spearhead the resettlement scheme aimed at facilitating individuals relocating to Tanjung Manis.

An additional RM15 million is dedicated to the creation of the Tanjung Manis Sports Complex through the Matu Daro District Council.

Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Deputy Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh elaborated on the scheme's objective to provide a planned settlement for newcomers, anticipating a phased execution of the project.

This announcement was made at the 'Riang Ria Aidilfitri' festivity at the Tanjung Manis Community Hall.

Datuk Len urged a prompt kick-off for the sports complex project entrusted to the district council, citing its crucial role in elevating local sports standards. Additionally, the 'Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri' event, he noted, would be a recurring fixture, heralding a platform for cross-cultural unity.
