YAN: A dolphin was found dead at Pantai Ruat here in Kedah yesterday, and its death is suspected to be caused by injuries from a boat collision.
Yan Civil Defence officer Zul Izzi Zulkifli said the agency received a report on the incident at 5pm yesterday and six officers were despatched to the scene to assess the condition of the animal.
"Upon arrival, our personnel found a beached dolphin that had died. It was suspected to have been hit by a boat propeller based on its injuries.
"As a result, we immediately informed the Fisheries Department and would relocate the carcass to another location for further action.
"The dolphin was estimated to be 1.8 metres long and weighed 220 kilogrammes," he said in a statement today.
