JOHOR BAHRU: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia today took to the skies via helicopter to inspect the Mersing district.

The Sikorsky helicopter ferrying Yang Di-Pertuan Agong departed from the Istana Bukit Serene helipad around 9.30am and later landed at Istana Flintstones.

During the almost 40-minute flight, Sultan Ibrahim also inspected the Mersing coastline, the Iskandar Camp, Istana Flintstones as well as the Istana Flintstones Lighthouse.

His Majesty decreed that Mersing is a tourism district which is often the focus of domestic and foreign tourists, and is blessed with natural beauty.

"During my observation from the air for almost 40 minutes, I observed the Mersing district's surroundings, including the coastline.

"Mersing is rich not just in its abundance of flora and fauna, but also has numerous islands which are tourist attractions," read a post on Sultan Ibrahim's official Facebook page.

At the same time, the King also reminded resort owners as well as villagers on their responsibility towards maintaining the cleanliness of the islands.

"Don't be surprised if I decide to make surprise visits to the villages and islands within Mersing," read the post.

Sultan Ibrahim also observed the harbour facilities at the Iskandar Camp.

"I found that the combat diving pool at the camp has yet to be fully completed. It was supposed to be handed over to the 21 Gerup Gerak Khas (GGK) on Dec 2022.

"I was also informed that as of now, six extensions have been applied by the relevant quarters," read the post.
