KUALA LUMPUR: The traffic situation on several major highways is reported to be slow moving, especially at the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound from Kulai to Sedenak, the Simpang Renggam layby to Ayer Hitam and in the opposite direction near the Seremban Rest and Service area to Senawang.
As of 5pm, traffic was also spotted building up along the Rawang (southbound) stretch, Bukit Tagar to Tg Malim, Sungkai to Ladang Bikam, near the Gopeng exit, Ipoh to Menora, Kuala Kangsar to Changkat Jering and from Sg. Dua to Sg. Petani.
A PLUS spokesman when contacted said no major crashes have been reported in the last several hours but there was one vehicle breakdown at about 3pm which had already been cleared.
He also reminded motorists to be courteous and follow all the road safety rules while driving.
"We have also opened up the smart lanes at some stretches and hope that motorists will obey and drive on the emergency lane, only at the designated stretches," he said.
Meanwhile, in the Klang Valley, most city roads are smooth moving without any traffic congestion reported in all parts of the city centre.
The traffic situation is expected to worsen from Saturday onwards, as many holidaygoers would be making their way back into the city, before resuming work on Monday.
