KUANTAN: It was literally a royal show at Sultan Ahmad Shah Silver Jubilee Hall here today (April 11).

Guests at the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house hosted by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail were treated to a series of popular songs belted out by Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and four princes.

The Pahang royal family, including Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, were obliging guests who wanted to have pictures taken with them.

Tengku Mahkota Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah then walked onstage and sang a 90s hit, 'Suci Dalam Debu', backed by a band.

He was joined by Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah,Tengku Panglima Perang Tengku Ahmad Ismail Mu'adzam Shah and Tengku Panglima Raja Brigadier Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah. The four of them sang Peterpan's hit 'Mungkin Nanti'.

The multi-racial crowd in the hall were visibly enthralled by the performance.

Many whipped out mobile phones to record the four rendering 'Kenangan Terindah', a song by Indonesian band Samsons.

Al-Sultan Abdullah then sang 'Kisah Seorang Biduan' (a song by the late Datuk Dahlan Zainuddin), Datuk Jamal Abdillah's 'Gadis Melayu', and rock band Spring's 'Butakah Cinta'.

The sultan said he was sure the videos would go viral despite the fact he was not a talented singer.

He also delivered a short speech.

Al-Sultan Abdullah urged Muslims to meet their religious obligations even after Ramadan.

"Continue meeting your religious obligations in months to come, including 'puasa enam', praying in the mosque at 'subuh' (pre-dawn prayers), reciting the Quran and continue teaching your children good practices."

Wan Rosdy told reporters that the open house brought together people from various races and political beliefs under one roof.

"People from all walks of life attended today... not only politicians from the unity government but also Perikatan Nasional. It is good that we have set aside issues and look forward to strengthening unity," he said.

Thousands attended the open house, which was held between 9am and 4pm.
