KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim paid a visit to warded patients and healthcare workers on duty during Hari Raya Aidilfitri at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (KLH) today.

Anwar and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, visited some of the patients admitted in the third-class wards and hospital staff members before handing out some Hari Raya goodies to them.

"Alhamdulillah, I also donated to patients in the third-class ward and KLH staff on duty," he posted on his Facebook page.

He said he also toured around the hospital and saw some of the infrastructures and facilities available at the hospital.

"The Madani government will ensure primary attention is given to improving urgent facilities (at the hospital) as soon as possible," he said.

It was reported that KLH, which is known to be one of the oldest hospitals in the country, is in need of an upgrade, especially due to the high number of patients it receives daily.

There were also reports of the hospital not having enough beds for patients and long waiting time for medical assistance.

In the post, Anwar conveyed his highest appreciation to all KLH staff members and healthcare workers under the ministry for their sacrifices and contributions for the health and wellbeing of the people.

"The celebration of Aidilfitri really knocks on the door of our conscience to increase the love and care for others, especially the sick and those living in poverty," he wrote.
