KUALA LUMPUR: All welfare arrangements for the students affected by the road accident at Lake Tekapo, New Zealand on March 30 have been completed.

The Foreign Ministry, through the Malaysian high commission in Wellington, said in a statement that only one student is still receiving follow-up treatment at Christchurch Hospital, while two other injured students have been discharged from the hospital.

"Of the two deceased, one was safely buried in Christchurch, while the remains of another student have been safely repatriated and buried in Malaysia," the statement said.

The ministry extended its gratitude to all involved parties, including the New Zealand government, Timaru Hospital, Christchurch Hospital, University of Canterbury, the Malaysian community in Christchurch, and other relevant parties.

Their collective efforts, whether direct or indirect, had been instrumental in ensuring the welfare of the students, it said.

Megat Aishman Aqif Megat Irman Jefni and Wan Nur Adlina Alisa Wan Zainal Adileen were killed in the crash in Lake Tekapo.

New Zealand police, in a statement, had said that the multi-vehicle crash saw a three killed in total, the other being a motorcyclist.

Megat Aishman Aqif was buried in Christchurch.
