JOHOR BARU: The Johor State Immigration Department estimates that over 400,000 travellers will throng both Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) and the Second Link at Komplex Sultan Abu Bakar (KSAB) checkpoints to Singapore, over the two-day Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

Its director Baharuddin Tahir said, 1,500 Muslim immigration officers are forgoing Raya celebrations with their family members to man the immigration inspection counters at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complexes.

Immigration's Quick Response Team (QRT) will be stationed at the CIQ in BSI on a 12 hour-rotation shift to ensure smooth operations at all times.

"Despite being prepared in advance for the influx of travellers, we anticipate some delays due to the extraordinary surge of people.

"Please exercise patience, avoid provocations, be considerate, adhere to traffic regulations and the authorities on duty's directives.

"Travellers will be kept abreast with the latest information and announcement on our department's official social media platforms," he said when contacted today.
