KOTA KINABALU: A fire at a warehouse in Manggatal has significantly affected Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd's (SESB) finances, but the company is committed to meeting all electricity supply needs and requests in Sabah and Labuan.

SESB chief executive officer Mohd Yaakob Jaafar said the fire damaged new electrical cables and made them unusable.

"The burnt electrical cables were intended for distribution to SESB's district stores. They are crucial components in the electricity supply chain."

He said efforts were underway to expedite the procurement of new cables, but that would take time.

SESB hoped customers who have applied for electricity supply to remain patient until the new cables arrived.
