JASIN: Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh says that he will not budge from the stance of urging Malay and Muslim individuals to boycott any business entity that insults Islam.

He said that there will be no compromise with the involved parties who are deliberately igniting the anger of Muslims through behaviour which insults religion and the Malay race.

"I represent the voice of Malay and Islam in this country. I have received numerous calls to discuss Umno Youth's action in launching a boycott campaign against KK Mart supermarkets; I will not entertain them. Instead, I will continue with an even stronger campaign to boycott the said supermarkets.

"I want to urge all Malay and Muslims from today onwards, we 'forbid' our families from entering KK Mart. Let them (KK Mart) know the real power of Malays and Muslims when united in defending our religion."We want to show them that an apology is not a solution to this issue because they perceive Malays as weak and quick to forget when apologising.

Today, we will demonstrate the power of Malays until it affects your business; then you will know who Malays truly are," he said.

He, who is also the Umno Jasin division chief, said this at a meeting with the leadership of Umno in Kampung Terentang last night, attended by Umno division deputy chief Azman Abdullah, and deputy chief Datuk Khaidirah Abu Zahar.Dr Muhamad Akmal, who is also the Merlimau assemblyman, said he is not afraid to confront any party, including leaders of several political parties in the Unity government who are not pleased with Umno Youth's boycott campaign.

"I have to act aggressively in defending Islam because if not, we (Malays and Muslims) will continue to be belittled and insulted. They should not think that when in the unity government, Umno can be led by the nose."From now on, it's a challenging day for us. I am not afraid (to face it), but I hope for prayers and support from all Muslims and Malays. This is not about Dr Akmal, this is not about the Umno Youth chief, this is about the dignity of Malays and the religion of Islam that we must defend and uphold," he said.

On March 13th, the issue of 'Allah' being printed on socks sold at KK Mart in Bandar Sunway went viral on social media after users uploaded pictures of the product.Last Wednesday, KK Super Mart & Superstore Sdn Bhd (KK Super Mart) reportedly apologised for selling socks with the word 'Allah' at several of its convenience store branches.

Last night, Deputy Prime Minister and Umno President, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, emphasised that all supermarkets in the country should learn from the negligence of KK Mart supermarkets in selling socks with the word 'Allah'.He said that although KK Mart apologised, it is not a trivial issue and it is not just a religious issue but a responsibility that cannot be taken lightly.

Ahmad Zahid also said that the issue of socks with the word Allah sold at KK Mart falls under the 3Rs, namely involving matters related to religion, royalty, and race.
