BANGI: It was a tough day for a Ramadan bazaar trader when his two big containers filled with watermelon juice toppled over from a damaged table.

The incident involving a trader known only as Sufri, 27, and visuals of what happened was posted on TikTok by his wife.

The video with the caption 'a Ramadan test' shows Sufri staring at his spilled watermelon juice with the ice cubes strewn all over the road at his stall in Laman Niaga Komuniti, Bandar Baru Bangi, here.

The container holding the drink was apparently broken.

He said the incident in the video recording occurred during the second day of Ramadan on Wednesday.

"That incident happened at 4.30pm after I placed two big containers of watermelon juice on the table.

"Actually, I got the table a long time ago. I only use it once a year, so the wood was rotten and bent because it couldn't support the weight of the drink containers until they fell.

"I didn't notice that (the table was worn out) and was stunned to see what happened in front of my eyes. I was tired," he said when refering to the moment when the drinks containers fell and broke on the ground.

"I consider that day as a test during Ramadan, so I accept what happened," he said when contacted by Harian Metro.

After the incident, Sufri immediately cleaned up his equipment and poured water around the mess to clean it up with the help of his wife and business partners.

He said he would have needed a lot more time to replace the drinks that spilled on the ground, so he merely cleaned up and took the day off from trading because he could not continue his business that day.

"My wife shared it on TikTok but I didn't expect it to go viral and receive support as well as criticism.

"I didn't read much because I don't have any social media accounts, so my wife informed me."

The father of three, who is also a fruit vendor, said he knew of other vendors who experience such challenges when working at the bazaar.

"This is my second year selling drinks at the Ramadan bazaar, and last year it was at a site near Section 3, Bandar Baru Bangi, but nothing like this has ever happened."

"I hope the sharing of the video serves as a reminder to myself and others to be more careful in the future and to show the public the difficulties vendors face in seeking sustenance," he said.
