KLANG: A man created for his wife what he says is a 'telekung' adorned with Swarovski crystals worth a whopping RM12,000.
Syed Muhammad Syah Hasif Syed Othman, 32, said he sewed the 'telekung' himself.
He uploaded a video of him doing it and surprising his wife, Fatin Syazwani Ishak, 26. It has since gone viral.
The father of two said he wanted to give his wife something that could be used for a long time.
"Countless clothes have been sewn for my wife, not just for Aidilfitri but also for other events.
"Some of them have been sold. This time, I felt like doing something different.
"My wife had mentioned that she wanted to wear a 'telekung' from a TikTok personality.
"I thought, why not give her a Swarovski telekung because I always sewed clothes for her for big events? So, what's wrong with investing in religious attire," he told 'Harian Metro' yesterday.
He said the gift is a symbol of his affection for her.
Syed Muhammad Hasif said that it took a week to complete the prayer garment.
He said his wife was clueless about the gift.
"No one knew except my personal assistant. It was a secret, and I planned to gift it before we went to a mosque to perform 'tarawih' prayers."
He said it was not a waste of money.
"It's not for one-time use or only for 'tarawih' prayers. It can also be worn for praying at home or during the umrah.
"I hope my wife likes it, and at least she will remember that it was my handiwork sewing an exclusive 'telekung' for her."
