KUALA LUMPUR: Outgoing City police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid awarded 58 media practitioners with certificates in recognition of for their dedication and professionalism in reporting on KL crimes and police related stories.

This afternoon, Allaudeen hosted media practitioners from print, electronic and online news portals to a hi-tea ceremony at the Officer's Mess at the City Contingent Police headquarters ahead of his compulsory retirement on April 1.

"Thank you to all the media practitioners for their good cooperation and understanding shown in helping the City police disseminate accurate, reliable and timely information to the public.

"It has been a wonderful seven months here and I hope that media practitioners would continue to extend their cooperation to the team, even after I've retired," he said in his speech.

Allaudeen has served in various states and departments within the police force, including serving the Intergrity, Compliance and Standards department in Bukit Aman as its Deputy Director before he rose to become the KL Police chief mid last year.

He said he was grateful and thanked the police force for having given him the privilege to serve 39 years in various positions in the force.

Also present were Kuala Lumpur Deputy Police Chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob, district police chiefs, and City contingent department heads.

Two New Straits Times reporters, Kalbana Perimbanayagam and Fuad Nizam were among those who received certificates from Allaudeen, today.
