TUMPAT: Two motorcyclists were killed after their bikes collided at Km 5 Jalan Kota Baru-Pengkalan Kubor here last night.

The victims were identified as a 19-year-old youth and 62-year-old man, both from Tumpat.

District police chief, Assistant Commissioner Amran Dollah said the incident occured at 11.40pm last night.

"Initial investigation show that the incident happened when the youth failed to overtake a car causing his bike to collide with the other motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

"The collision caused the elderly man to die on the spot due to serious head and body injuries," he said.

He added the youth died on arrival at Raja Perempuan Zainab II hospital (HRPZ) In Kota Baru.

"The two bodies were sent to HRPZ and Tumpat hospital for post-mortem," he added.

Amran said police investigated the case under Section 41 (1) Road Transport Act 1987.
