PUTRAJAYA: Uzbekistan's Foreign Affairs Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov will undertake an official visit to Malaysia beginning today until Thursday, according to Wisma Putra statement.

The Foreign Ministry said this will be Saidov's first visit to Malaysia as the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

While in Malaysia, Saidov will pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the statement added.

Saidov is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.

"This visit is an opportunity for both sides to discuss and exchange views on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest. This visit will also further strengthen ties between the two countries, encompassing various areas of cooperation," the statement said.

At the forum, Saidov will lead a delegation comprising officials from Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade, business entities and deputy governors of the Kashkadarya region, deputy governor of the Tashkent region and deputy governor of the Samarkhand region.
